Hans Martin Akerwall has worked a number of years at The Royal Theatre, Copenhagen. He has conducted opera, ballet, as well as being in charge of the orchestral arrangements of several scenic works.
Thanks to an almost symbiotic collaboration with the Finnish National Ballet, he opened the season 2003 with Prokofiev’s ballet Cinderella. Furthermore, the theatre invited Akerwall to stage Carmen by Shchedrin/Bizet.
He has worked intensively with the Danish composer Karsten Fundal. He led the first performance of Karsten Fundal’s symphonic music accompanying Th. Dreyer’s movie Mikael. This event attracted much attention from the Danish and German media.
During the years Hans Martin Akerwall has held positions as a conductor in Germany and Switzerland and made several concerts with major orchestras in Scandinavia, Germany, Switzerland, France and USA.
